You can do this in the microwave or the oven, but the oven is going to be your best bet for the best flavor and crunch.
Add-ins:
This recipe is versatile, so you can customize it to fit your taste. You can swap out the nuts, add cheese crackers, hot sauce, rye rounds, etc. Just try to keep the dry ingredients to roughly the same measurements to make sure the "sauce" coats everything.
Considerations:
Prep time: 15 minutes
Baking time: 1 hour
Total time from start to finish: 1 hour 15 minutes
What you need:
Food Items:
Snack mix:
9 total cups Chex cereal, you can mix corn, rice, and wheat kinds
2 cups mini pretzels
1 cup Cheerios
1 cup peanuts
Sauce:
1/2 cup butter, melted
1/3 cup Worchestershire sauce
1 1/2 TBS seasoned salt
1 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/4 tsp paprika (I used smoked)
Few dashes hot sauce, optional
Equipment
Large mixing bowl
Microwave safe bowl to melt better and mix the sauce
Rubber spatula
Baking sheet
How to:
Preheat oven to 250 degrees.
In a large bowl, combine all dry ingredients for the snack mix. Toss gently to combine.
Melt butter in microwave (about 25-35 seconds), and add Worchestershire sauce and all seasonings. Stir to combine. (If your Worchestershire sauce is cold, it might start to solidify the butter. If that happens, just warm the sauce in the microwave for 10-15 seconds until liquified and mix well.)
Pour half of the sauce over the snack mix, and stir gently to combine. Then pour the remaining sauce over the mix and stir again until all pieces are coated.
Bake for 1 hour, taking the pan out every 15 minutes and gently flipping and stirring the mix.
Once done, let it cool completely and store in an airtight container. It will last up to 7 days.
